I also faced the same issue as you. A colleague showed me the 'way' :)
.1 Check Makefile for AR= (not sure why it is blank, but that's the
reason why all references to it with '-rc' are not found)
.2 Add the path to the 'ar' command (#which ar)

Hi everybody,
I am trying to compile samba 3.025.b on Solaris 10, but during make I've got
an error make: rc command not found, It is being supposed to have /etc/rc
but there is not. I have also have same error in older version of my SUN
which OS's is Solaris 5.8.
There are some rc commands
