I've been using Windows 8 with samba4 as an AD DC for a while (on ubuntu 13.04) with no big issues. Did you install using the git repo or apt? My biggest issues were with DNS -- perhaps double-check that DNS entries are correct and clients are also using the DNS server (https://wiki.samba.org/ind
