i am new to samba.
our DVR software(digital video recorder) uses Samba protocol.
our software having two functions
1) local view- working fine
2) remote view- it is very very slow.
can u suggest any tuning of samba performance.

the user should get read/write/rename access but he shouldnot have
delete access is this possible in linux samba server? If yes how to do
it ?

This is not possible. If you have write access to a file, then you're allowed to
delete it. Unless you don't have write access to the directory where this file is in.
In this case you can write to a file, but don't delete it or rename it.

Just to let you know the solution to the problem I was having!
I feel very silly now, looks like it was a problem with my smb.conf domain
admin group. I have just added root to it and promoted a machine using root
instead of my super user and it works.

i have been sitting on the samba conf and cant understand how to mount windows
dir from linux box/
i edit the config file and i can set my window to connect the linux
but dont know what to do to mount to win .

To connect to a windows server:
smbclient -L //server/share
Are you using linux? The command to mount a directory in linux looks
something like this in linux:
smbmount //$i/"$n" /mnt/NetWork/$i/"$n" -o uid=username,gid=users,guest,rw,fmask=777
