I have a strange problem with winbind. I had winbind working for a
while on a Redhat Linux 7.1 server, but now it stopped working. I use
Samba version 2.2.8a
# /usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -p
'ping' to winbindd failed
could not ping winbindd!
# pgrep -l winbin
29524 winbindd

command wbinfo -p result "ping to winbindd failed... could not ping
winbindd!"
What is incorrect?

Im running samba 2.2.7 on a redhat 7.2 machine. I run winbindd and it
says it can't connect to the Win2k machine. I know that this is due to
the fact the anonymous connections arent allowed. So to fix this I run

I've got a little problem with pam_winbind. My /etc/nssstitch.conf

Due to the ever so lovely storms here on the US
West Coast I had to shutdown my Samba v.2.2.4 server running Winbind this
weekend, unfourtunatly once I powered back up the server I started getting this
error from log.winbindd and could no longer
access Samba from my Windows stations.

I've got winbind working pretty much as it should be I think, all the wbinfo
commands work fine and and I can login to the local machine using a domain
login/password but it says no HOME directory even when there is one.

problem is that when I login with my domain user I get "id: cannot find
name for group ID 10004" ... 10004 should be "Domain Users" ... and when I
do getent groups|grep 10004 I can see this group... although when I do
