Just to test *something*...
I renamed the >8 char directory to something <8 char,
and now the file opens OK in both Notepad and Wordpad.
Note that the file itself have >8 char in the name and
>3 chars in the "type"...
Well, until someone have another solution, I'll stick to
<8 char directorys on

Win98 client (not SE or ME)
I connect to my "user" directory on the server.
I can "see" all files in Windows Explorer.
I can "type" and "edit" from a DOS window.
I can "open" a PS file in Ghostview.
I can "open" a PDF file with Acrobat Reader.
I can *not* open the file

If I exit smbpasswd with ctrl-C at any of the
password-prompts, I have to do SET TERM/ECHO
"blind" before I get any output back on my
terminal.
Is this expected ?
And another thing about the smdpasswd file...
I'v never realy understod if this file is a *must*
to use SAMBA. Doesn't SAMBA use
