Hi all,
i have problems to scan color images with 10 or 12 bits on
a microtek scanmaker 9600XL scanner: Starting a preview will produce
a black preview, and then starting a scan produces an empty
image.
No problem when scanning with 8 bit.
My platform: RH Linux 7.1, Kernel 2.4.6

The solution to your problem is the SANE network daemon saned. You
can install saned who is running as root (yes, the man-page says, this
isn't recommended) and allow users to access to scanner over TCP.

Hi, i`ve a Sane problem (probably).
I`ve installed a scanner Microtek Scanmaker E6 with Adaptec 1502
controller that seems to be work perfectly (cat /proc/scsi/scsi --> see
and recognize the scanner). Prewiew ... ok, i select a part of imagine
and SCAN--> it tells "The scanner is already busy"
