but the "mustek_pp"-Backend only is able to switch on the light and
"tries" to move the enging without success.

Try to run the backend in debug mode.
$export SANE_DEBUG_EPSON=128;
or
$export SANE_DEBUG_EPKOWA=128;
and then run the scanimage. set the debug for whichever backend you are using.
We will know where the segmentation fault is.
The productID for this scanner is not seen anywere in
sane-bac
