Dear sane-devel
If you want a cheap book scanner, do what I did.
4 years or more ago, I bought avery cheap Canon Lide 25.
I bought this because the distance between the ending of the bulb and
itscarrier is only a few mms.
I carefully remover the 2 plastic strips down each side, so that the

Hello,
Currently i'm trying to migrate a standalone program to a sane
backend, i thought that the task would be simpler to migrate it in two
stages: first to make the program a backend but using the libusb
calls, after that and having a working backend, convert all the libusb
stuff to sanei_usb.

I've set up xsane (0l99+0.991-2) with a new scanner (Epson Expession

a tiff file, the resulting file is in proper colors in only about the
bottom 5%, and the remainder of the file is black. When I save as a

Hi All,
I am running FreeBSD 6.2 Stable on a T41 (Thinkpad).
I have a Neatreceipts scanner.

I am not sure if anyone has used this in FreeBSD or if it even has a

Hi,
I am using Astra 1220 (scsi) with Debian/GNU Linux 4.0 (etch),
kernel 2.6.22.1, and sane 1.0.18. After a couple of scans using
xsane the scanner stops scanning often in the middle of a scan.
xsane stops responding and eventually goes into uninteruptable
sleep (state D). Often but not always
There is work already done as far as the genesys backend is concerned.
The other part remaining is specific to the GL843 chip. The work can be
estimated, as the GL841 backend is working, the GL646 backend is in
progress, and anything else - GL843 - is a TODO.
An invitation to a developer is
however, the backend doesn't work, the port aparently opens well, but
the calls to usb_get_descriptor, usb_control_msg never return.
Any one knows if there is any -bad- interaction between calling
directly libusb and other sane libraries?
This is dependent on the individual scanner. When
