just wrap it in an #ifdef (or even #if 0) for now, we are releasing
the successor to 1.0.19, no API changes.
OK, I'll use SANE_CURRENT_MAJOR and SANE_CURRENT_MINOR defines to

Hello,
We installed a MFP 3100 connected to an iMac with OS X 10.5.6.
We installed the Xerox's Scanner_Driver_Dependency Installer, which
supposedly installs gettext.pkg, libusb.pkg, sane-backends.pkg and
TWAIN-SANE-Interface.pkg.
In the System Preferences SANE pane, the MFP 3100 does not

Hi Peter,
Ok, this is a first step, it confirms the behavior of libusb interrupts
reads with darwin / MAC OS X, and that it does not handle timeouts.
In fact, the small change brought here (using a bulk read instead of
interrupt) leads to disabling the scan button features, as button events
As far as I can see in the differences between older versions of the
pixma standalone driver and today's, concerning usb exchanges for MP730,
the older drivers did not use events polling whereas newer do with usb
interrupt reads.
First, did you try to remove the PIXMA_CAP_EVENTS flag for the

xerox has their own, proprietary sane driver. The one that ships with
sane (xerox_mfp) does not list support for the 3100, but there is a
chance it could work.
