the samsung scx-4200 works with the xerox mfp backend, i suspect that
this driver will work for other samsung's too. Perhaps it would be
wise to make it the default (samsung's proprietary driver performs
ugly hacks .. so as long as users can install that one if this
fails...) then more feedback sho

please send the error message.

It sounds like we need to collect the USB id's of all the possible
machines, and add them to the backend's .desc and .conf.in files. The
id's can usually be found by looking in .inf files in the unzipped
windows driver packages. Any volunteers?

which part is running cygwin- the client or the saned server, or both?
Does it happen with the test or pnm backends?

Hi little girl,
sorry, I have no clue about this. Maybe recreate the xsane package and
reinstallation could be helpful? I do not know whether sane relies on
ghostscript to generate postscript / pdf or whether it has it's own pdf
creator. Hopefully Julien has a clue what to do
Take care
I am running scanimage -d net:localhost:avision > test.pnm with a saned -d
server running.
I haven't tried any of the test backends.

I will test direct scanning in the morning and get back to you. As for joining
the list, it is funny that I recently left the list. I was on it when I ported
1.0.18 to the Linuxsys NSLU2 running OpenWRT. Go figure. I will join again.
