On a newly installed OpenSuse 11.2 (x64) I get the following error
starting xsane (or using the plugin from GIMP, same result):
The program 'xsane' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.

Hello list.
I've used a friends Epson Perfection 2450 scanner with sane with good
results. Unfortunately the scanner has broken down and I'm looking for a
new one.
The 2450 is not in the market any longer so a new model must be chosen.
The 4990 would be nice but I can't find it at my dealer.
tell us what you plan to scan, how often you will use it, and if any
brands other than epson can be purchased.

Hi Nicolas,
Ok, so indeed, the git version without pthtread works
flawlessy (see attached log). However, I so far didn't manage
to build sane-backends with pthread.
