Per the instructions in your 40-libsane.rules file, I am sending you some
lines that enable the Brother MFC devices to scan as other than root:
# Brother scanners
ATTRS{idVendor}==04f9, ENV{libsane_matched}=yes

The scanner is an old Fujitsu ScanPartner 15C
running of an Adaptec AIC-7850 scsi card in an old Pentium III PC

there are two different problems here-
1. the sanei_scsi message on the server side
2. you cannot set the debug vars for a remote backend on the client
side. the message you are seeing is because the dll backend on the
client is loading all the backends in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. Avision
should not

So let me know if I understand clearly:
- MX330 works with the pixma backend. It was not yet declared in Sane
1.0.20, but is declared in Sane git for a while now, with the proper usb
pid. If you install Sane git, MX330
