I'm currently testing a Canon PIXUS all-in-one MP700 which is similar
in structure to the MP710 I had until recently (power failed, thrown
out).
I am using CVS, as shown by scanimage -V:

There are two usb ports on my computer. I tried both ports, also I tried
another usb cable. If it is necessary I can attach the logs. But the new
logs are identical with the old logs.
I able to recompile sane-backends with a patch.

so it should be a problem with the new version.

Since my scans are for on-screen display only, I'd like to use a gamma
table in place of an ICC profile. It sounds like I need to determine
values for gamma, shadow, and highlight so gamma4scanimage can
generate the gamma table. How can I determine those values? Am I
supposed to scan targets?
