Which sane backend supports this scanner? All the mustek products are
so similarly named, I can't tell.

I noticed at friends with very old systems (Celeron 1000 and 1300,
512MB RAM, Geforce MX400, SCSI-scanner), that it takes

You should definitely try using another program like scanimage, just
to verify. If the problem is only with XSANE, you might contact it's
author. He is not subscribed to this mailing list.

2009, which is quite old. How do we update them ?

Ahh- my fault. The build scripts rely on a very specific version of
man2html, which I did not have when I did the release. I'll try to get
them updated this weekend.
