I'm using xsane and iscan ("Image Scan") to interface with my Epson V700 scanner, and they don't show options for scanning beyond 3200 dpi. The V700 has a maximum optical resolution of 6400 x 9600 dpi. From the specifications at http://snipurl.com/v700-specs here is what's actually listed, verbatim

I'm interested in scanning 4x5 transparency film, and would like to have something a little better than the Epson V750 (which gets a real optical resolution of 3200 at best, but more likely around 2200 - 2400, despite stating more than 6000 dpi). Hence, I'm interested in entry-level drum-scanners,
