Can I please be helped with this problem?
I first installed the canoscan LiDE 25 and later unistalled it without the
CD, M next attempt to install the scanner proved futile number of times. The
system will just log of after it is about to complete the installation of the
scanGear which is first on the scanner menu. if not the acrobate reader
installation will just turn the system off. I have tried every possible way a
computer can install a program and the outcome is still the same.
please help me I dont want to lose this scanner

you may have this problem:
http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=26728
(bug in uhci drivers in the kernel, preventing hp5300c to work when plugged in
a usb port of an uhci usb controler)

this is not a windows software support list, we develope an
alternative to the vendor supplied software, for use with Unix-based
machines. i suggest you ask Canon for help.
