Now that Gnucash 1.6.6 is working I have questions on how it is
working.
Having a problem with the Account "credit-card". It's an official
Credit card account but when I enter an expense the darn thing wants me to
tranfer it somewhere. I guess I transfer it to Expense but it's no
I'm using Red Hat version 8 which has SANE and Xsane loaded from
the start. I decided to try and get my Epson Perfection 1250 scanner to
work in Linux. While reading all the data on the various web pages I
clicked on something on the Epson page and that got me to a page outside
the USA.
Hi, I got my Epson Perfection 1250 working with SANE well and the Xsane
back end. I never did get iscan working. It still says it can't find a
scanner.

After a huge help from Henning Meier-Geinitz I have the current
paper that helps anyone get a USB scanner found by SANE. It is basic by
intention so most of you can read it without a lot of trouble.
The paper will be available for reading at my web site which is:

Thanks Frank. I will repair your, and on hotplug my Red Hat 8 Linux has
it but I don't know how to use it yet. Last night I joined the hotplug

Hi Gang, this is expected to work with the Linux systems

When I just bought my Epson scanner with USB port, I set it up
on Windows. To do this it required that a cd-rom full of software
including drivers be loaded on my windows. It works fine on windows.
While looking for a scanner in Las Cruces, NM USA, I hit Wal

Hi Bill, I think you have a usb scanner. If so look back about one day
on this list to a message from me with the title Scanner Basics. It
explains how I got my USB scanner working.

Hi Karl, I will need to read a man page for hotplug. I really don't
understand your example.

Hi Philippe, I plan to re-write Scanner Basics to include what I found
was necessary to get my scanner working. I am glad yours is working too.
I hope the "method" will work with many scanner types.

The subject says it all. My typo's in files cost me a day almost

for me and I looked at it with Gimp which I use alot, and it looks good.

Hi Gene, on my system I used the right vendor and product numbers so
that's not my problem.
I went to http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/scanners-usb.html and under
the 1250 epson he has a place to click that gets you to a page where you
can download a rpm of iscan for the 1250u which I install
There are some corrections to the original message typos.

It's still wrong Gene. But I will correct it and see if that's the

Some progress has been made but still the subject scanner is not
working in Linux. I am using Red Hat 8 Linux which has the sane backend
version=1.0.8 and the subject scanner is connected to a USB port. With
earlier help I was able to assure that sane can find the scanner and
using "san

If you load Red Hat 8.0 Linux and look around you will see a Sane
button under Imaging and it's so easy to just click this and in general it
comes up and you say yes to the license thing and then it says "can't find
