I too, am willing to test and do some coding, but not as a lead programmer. I thought I saw a thread by someone who was working on it. I do currently have a few desktops, and enough parts to make more and plenty of copies of various versions of windows. Although I doubt I have a copy of Windows 7

I can tell you for sure the 8400F runs on a GL843 processor. I took mine apart years ago in thinking I would be able to develop a driver. I'm fairly certain I posted the entire guts of the scanner years ago. Both to this list and to other places. But like Allesandro, I haven't the time to develop

The 8400f is reported to have a GL843 processor. Study the source code of the genesys backend. You may be able to clone the settings of an existing supported GL843 scanner. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CheckIfScannerIsClone Stef Voltz maintains the genesys backend and may be able to help
