As it turns out Lexmark actually used different scan heads for the same
model scanners. The driver that is in version 1.0.18 will recognize your
scanner, but it might not determine the correct scan head. A newer
driver developed by Stephane Voltz has support for the other scan heads

I got a problem with a Lexmark X1180. The scanner starts making weird
