finally I had some time to get into the research/development of a driver
for HP 2300C scanner.
Because I have no experience in development for Linux/SANE drivers, I
was wondering if there's some kind of HOWTO or a quick crash course for
developing scanner drivers. I downloaded a couple of

Does that mean HP 2400c and HP 2300c are supported by the latest cvs
version of Sane?
HP 3670 and HP 2400 seem similar except for HP 3670 having an additional
function button . Atleast thats what it looks like from windows driver.

NO. sane-find-scanner might be able to tell whether this scanner is based on a
gl646. There is no backend for that scanner.

I just bought a el cheapo hp2300c scanner since there is no SANE drivers.
I looked at the windows driver, and found the "GL646U" strings. Same as the hp
3690 it seems.
So I ran "sane-find-scanner -v -v -v" and it didn't detect that chipset.

Some times ago I've red that someone has found that the driver of
hp2300C could be derived from another driver. Are there other notices
about this?

Discussions I had with Henning Meier & Frank Zarko concluded that HP2400 an=
d=20
HP2300 used a gl646 chipset.
A backend is being written (genesys) but as Henning told yesterday : "just =
a=20
bunch of functions :-)".

you can see that it is not supported.
You can also now search the mailing list again and you will see that
there seems to be some effort to analyze that scanner. So just wait so
