When I'm trying scanimage I have the folowing error message:

My config:
-> HP Scanjet 5370C USB
-> Linux RedHat kernel 2.4.7
-> 256 Mo RAM
-> sane-1.0.10-pre3

stable version:
linux-2.4.20 (from kernel.org)
sane-backends-1.0.10
sane-frontends-1.0.10

2003-02-07 and make a full rebuild of sane-backends and sane-frontends:
make uninstall; make distclean; configure; make; make install.

I am attempting to make my scanner work. It is a Umax Astra 600S
attached via a SCSI-Firewire interface to my MacBook, which is running
Mac OS X 10.5. I'm using the latest version of the TWAIN-SANE
