Hi list, scanning newbie here :)
I'll start by naming my scanner in case it's important: It's a CanoScan
8800F, which has a film guide for up to 12 35mm frames.
I've begun a project of scanning a bunch of negatives (= in the order of
thousands of photos ;)) and I'd like a way to easily scan the n

Hi,
I am going to be scanning several hundred old 70mm
film rolls (about 100 images per roll), and was
wondering about which SANE compatible scanner would
be good to use for this that is not too expensive
and can do the recommended 2700dpi+ negative

Right now the only viable solution for negatives with yellow
filter layers is to scan a portion of the film strip *between*
two photos, play with the colour filters of xsane or whatever
scanner software you are using until you have obtained pure
white, and use this filter setting for your photos.

The Canon D660U (which just got supported with sane-backends 1.0.14) has a
built-in 35mm film adapter. Scanning from the flatbed produces beautiful
images, but scanning negatives from the film adapter produces images with blue
top-to-bottom streaks.
Any clues why this might be so?

Hi.
I've searched through the archives and discovered good reports regarding
normal scaning with the epson perfection 1670.
My main use of this scanner would be for scanning negatives. Has the
drivers reached the point where it can scan negatives at the highest
resolution?
Thanks for the inform

If you have your original email handy, would you mind posting it to
the list? Then we would have a good starting point.

Haven't you heard, you are not allowed to mention any scanning software
that is not SANE on the mailing list anymore.

Some have mentioned the "stripes" that appear in the scans.
I too, get something like stripes on
