Client eCommerce To leverage our scale and drive efficiencies as we pursue
new e-commerce opportunities around the globe, we are creating a new
business unit that will be responsible for driving online growth around the
world – both in developed markets where we currently have stores and an
online presence and in markets where we don’t. The objectives of this
business unit will include (1) development and execution of a global
strategy for e-commerce; (2) establishing of cross-functional and
cross-border client relationships designed to accelerate and broaden our
growth in the global online channel; and (3) the creation of technology
platforms and applications that can be used effectively in every client
market.
*Position Summary*
The duties of an architect include exploring new technology, working on
defining and enhancing various subsystems within client enterprise and
helping define architectural roadmap of the enterprise. He/She will be
responsible for leading engineering efforts from concept into
implementation, working closely with business and cross functional
engineering teams on formulating requirements and performing feasibility
study. He/She will provide technical mentorship to other team members. The
position will serve as the technical lead for the distributed development
teams working on this platform to deliver Supply Chain functionality. Some
of the key areas he/she will work in and contribute will span eCommerce
applications, Content Management Systems, and other eCommerce back-ends. A
wide degree of creativity and efficiency is required.
The architect needs to be comfortable in many technical environments and
propose balanced solution implementation based on business needs and
technical capabilities.
*Position Descrip*
1. System Design and Build (50%)
•Serve as a technical lead for architecture, design and implementation of
various back end system components within client’s platform.
• Provide high level design for new initiatives touching given subsystem
including project sizing.
• Evaluate tuning and optimization concerns of applications and systems.
• Work with the team members to influence overall software strategy and
direction in Backend Systems.
• Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements. Design
appropriate solutions and recommend alternative approaches when necessary.
• Explore new technology and drive innovation within the team
• Lead and mentor team members.
• Recommend and implement engineering best practices.
• Collaborate, communicate with different teams, and triage technical issues
across teams.
• Extremely focused on delivering high quality, defect free solutions
2. Research and Innovation (25%)
• Research technology trends and apply the results to solve business
problems
• Develop solution prototype and be able to demonstrate value proposition of
the solutions to a wide audience
3. Partnership with business (15%)
• Collaborate with product and project managers as well as business to
define product features, architectural deliverables and project estimates
• Work closely with business partners to identify business needs and ensure
that system improvements answer the needs of the business
• Support Business requests for investigation and analysis
4. Ongoing Support and Maintenance (10%)
• Perform application tuning
• Provide support in troubleshooting / investigations
• Respond quickly to critical requests
• Provide 24/7support, with a one-week on-call rotation every few weeks
• Perform Data analysis

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities
Functional Competencies:
• Excellent grasp of the relational data model
• Deep knowledge of Oracle RDBMS ,excellent data modeling, debugging and
tuning skills
• Excellent PL/SQL programming skills
• Comprehensive SDLC experience including:
o Strong design and data modeling skills
o Agile implementation principles and practices
o Use of version control management such of SVN, CVS, Clearcase, or
perforce.
o Production environment deployment and maintenance
• Experience in similar roles at prominent Internet companies, with detailed
knowledge about scaling issues and solutions
• Ability to work in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
• Ability to gather, synthesize and drive resolution of projects from a
cross-functional team.
• Ability to work with business users, product managers, QA, Release, and UI
and Platform Engineering teams to develop great e-commerce applications
• Understanding of Supply Chain inbound and outbound processes and workflows
• Reasonable familiarity with Java
• Good understanding of SOA, Web Services and ESB.

1)* Experience:*
o 8+ years in software engineering
o 5+ years of experience programming in Oracle database
o 4+ years in design and development of E-Commerce Applications
o Experience managing vendors / system integrators
2) Preferred educational level:
o B.S. in computer science or equivalent (M.S. preferred)
3) Physical Requirements:
o Provide 24/7 support, with one-week on-call rotation every few weeks
