Desktop computer and cell phone users alike all benefit from responsive websites. * *Job Description:* The Lead Web Developer will have advanced front-end/web development capabilities and will understand how the presentation layer and client-side functionality will seamlessly integrate with back-end functionality. This individual will create user experiences and design interfaces from concept to production for new and existing sites as well as other interactive mediums. The contractor will work closely with client stakeholders throughout the projects lifecycle and will work with team members to both implement and suggest/experiment with new ways to use web technologies while enforcing and maintaining strict coding standards. The Senior Team Member should be able to create project documentation, generate technical requirements, as well as develop wire frames demonstrating concept flow and interactivity. They must be able to manage and meet assigned project and task schedules and produce website pages to match functionality requirements and final design comps. The Lead Web Developer will be responsible for leading a team of 1-3 developers on any given project and is comfortable providing direction and mentoring other team members when needed. *The primary duties and responsibilities of the job include: *- Works at high programming and creative level, demonstrating proficiency in interpreting graphic visual or interaction designs using modern web standards and technologies including HTML and CSS, and methods to ensure browser and device compatibility. - Develops unobtrusive, efficient and reusable JavaScript, both from scratch and using a library, like jQuery, to progressively enhance websites and applications. - Creates, edits and modifies templates and themes in the web framework used by the Office of Communications. - Writes code in a git-powered version-control environment, with a commitment to learning and contributing to a shared set of programming best practices to facilitate easy collaboration and code maintainability. - Recommends and defends decisions that best fit the needs of each project based on a strong understanding of the user experience, site usage analytics, and other metrics. - Tests cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatibility for inconsistencies and implements necessary changes to ensure compatibility. - Reviews designs against usability best practices through testing and observation. Identifies and resolves development problems independently. - Writes code for compliance to specified standards such as accessibility standards.
