specializing in Automotive Interiors/Exteriors or Seating to join our team
based California, US



*Key Responsibilities *



·         Provide Technical Project Management to the Body
Interiors/Exteriors team in collaboration with Designer Engineers, Project
Leads and the Technical Management Team.

·         Reporting to the Function Group Manager/Program Manager, work on
all aspects of Body Interiors/Exteriors delivery on our future vehicle
programmes.

·         Lead a cross functional team to collectively deliver the whole
vehicle specification targets

·         Component and system level packaging and concept studies
including styling feasibility

·         Plastic Components (Interior/Exterior parts, Side Shields, Track
Covers, Release Handles/bezels etc.), sheetmetal parts (brackets,
structural members, mechanism components etc) and foam design and
development

·         Provided engineering surface proposals for assembly components.
Work on packaging check, design per standard guidelines, tooling
feasibility check, template sections and drawing release.

·         Creating rough surfaces and analyzing probable tooling as well as
fit and finish requirements

·         Maintain the number of parts and complexities and optimized the
design and development of variants and part counts though commonization.

·         Conformance to product requirements on Styling, craftsmanship,
comfort, manufacturing, adherence to product development process, and
timelines.

·         Perform part installation, travel and clearance studies. Concept
generation and development of latch mechanisms Interference checks and
packaging studies

·         Work in collaboration with the Project Engineers to identify and
specify design activity required

·         Component and system design and detailing from prototype to
production to internal and external design standards including GD&T

·         Check the content of designs for release against the
specification, the data integrity of CAD geometry and resolution of digital
build concerns prior to sign-off

·         Be the point of contact for the rest of the design community for
day-to-day engineering matters

·         Communicate progress and critical issues to the Project Leader,
Project Engineers and the Liaison Engineer



*Knowledge, Skills and Experience: *

·         Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree

·         Strong CAD skills with proven evidence of part design and
accountability is essential.  Thorough understanding of the Kinematics
module will be an added advantage ;

·         5-10 years of previous experience of component and system design
utilising all of the key attributes, with a demonstrable record of delivery
of the accountabilities;

·         Proven skills for design of parts/ assemblies using Catia V5 and
working with cross-functional teams;

·         Experience with any of the following systems

o   Door Trim (Door card, Grab handle, Stowage pocket & Lid, Speaker
housings, Head air bag, Arm rest, Switch pack mounts)

o   Facia (Passenger air bag, Face vents, Glove box, Window demist, Screen
rail, Facia upper & lower, closure panels), Facia Console (HMI screen
housing, Centre speaker, Face vents),Tunnel Console (Lockable bin, Cup
holders, side plates, Arm rest)

o   Upper Trim (Headliner with HI foams, A pillars, B pillar uppers & C
pillars), Sun Visor (Vanity mirrors with covers, D tent feature with full
hinge package),Lower Trim (Tub carpets driver handed, Foot rests, HVAC
covers, Cill covers),Rear Trim (B pillars, bulk head, Capping panel, QTR
trims, speaker grill, manual door release, belt Bezels),Luggage trim (GT
Specific content, luggage floor, retention systems, service access
systems), Steering Wheel

o   Seating System (side shield, structural components, foam, mechanisms
etc)

o   Bumpers, Attachment brackets, Grilles, Fenders, Spoilers, Ducts and
Vents, Mirrors casings etc.

·         Working knowledge of the latest manufacturing technologies and
feasibility execution to achieve systems requirements and world-class
craftsmanship/performance targets.

·         Strong proficiency in utilizing CATIA V5 is essential within an
automotive product development environment

·         Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, including
familiarity with GD&T and dimensional engineering.

·         Utilize DFSS methodologies as appropriate during the design,
validation and launch of the programs.

·         Strong familiarity with the development of specifications,
DFMEAs, DVP&R’s and other technical documents.

·         Demonstrate an ability to manage difficult projects with tight
timing constraints and provide examples of such scenarios throughout your
career.
