Minneapolis, MN Deep experience with one or more best-of-breed BI tools is required (Actuate, Business Objects, Cognos, Microstrategy)' setup, configuration, design best practices, performance optimization, team based development approaches. • Architectural knowledge of establishing and implementing BI environments from scratch as well as migrating existing ones to new platforms if needed • Can outline best practices used in implementing BI Solutions • Data architecture and modeling experience implementing proper data structures for a reporting solution from an enterprise data warehouse or operational data store view point • Full comprehension of SQL, cardinality, levels of granularity, normalized vs. denormalized, database and tool optimization techniques and other such reporting data architecture best practices is • Must have strong project and team leadership skills, leading a combination of onsite, off site and off shore teams • Serving as a primary thought leader on the business intelligence tool (yet to be selected) and its capabilities. • Develops reusable solutions and workarounds that are innovative and demonstrate a deep technical knowledge of the affected products, processes, and the customer environment • Demonstrates ability to develop solutions that can be used by multiple consumers to enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of their enterprise • Breadth of knowledge covers additional business units, third parties, competitors, and business drivers. • Strong knowledge of performance tuning tactics appropriate at each layer within a business intelligence/data-warehouse environment • Experience with complex reporting requirements in a global like company (e.g. data sources from multiple regions in different time zones, character sets, and report business rules) • Knowledge of metadata technologies, techniques and approaches for capturing and distributing BI metadata • Marketplace awareness of evolving BI topics such as data mining, service-oriented data integrations, master data management and near real-time operational reporting approaches A project architect is responsible for conceptualizing and designing detailed solutions for a specific project that enables Ameriprise to meet its business objectives.
