The candidate must possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings. This candidate should be incredibly sharp and possess the desire, drive and energy that is needed to launch new products utilizing Agile Methodologies. *DUTIES:* Driving the development of Django/Python based web products. Work with the Search & Browse Team in integration of application middle tier with SOLR based search Development focus is on performance oriented software design utilizing best practices in software development Mentor junior engineers and foster collaborative development *ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:* On call after an initial pass through the code to optimize it (expected to last ~2 months) *Job Requirements:* *EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE:* BS and MS Degree in CS/EE or equivalent Minimum 5 years’ experience scripting language (Jython, Python, Bash) Deep experience in building and deployment of Django/Python based web sites 3+ years’ experience using Python/Django based frameworks Implemented a system that gets significant traffic, ideally millions of page views or at least half-million visitors per month Experience with analyzing and tuning DJango’ s ORM database performance. Open source experience, with a software development process that includes shared code repositories and regular, frequent or continuous builds Experience in JavaScript, including server-side and, ideally, experience with HTML and CSS Experience in developing to an MVC model, on a Linux-Apache-MySQL platform *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Extensive knowledge of Linux/Unix operating system environments. Experience with debugging tools and techniques Experience with of relational databases (MySQL) and SQL querying tools Experience with Search Methodologies including SOLR/Lucene experience is a plus. Experience in Data warehouses and Big Data analytics is a plus. Experience in profiling tools and performance instrumentation is a plus.
