*Title:* *QA Analyst* posted on 2013-06-26 15:30:30 *Job Description:*Job Title: QA Analyst Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL Contract: 6+ Months contract Description of Role: We’re looking for a QA Consultant with strong technical skills to join the team that is responsible for manual testing and some automated testing of web services and database validation. This role is a demanding, highly dynamic, technically challenging position. You must be a top-notch quality assurance analyst, detail-oriented, flexible, and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will have the ability to be a self-starter, learn on the go and come up to speed on Redbox systems quickly with minimal supervision. Responsibilities: • Create and execute manual test cases for web services; Understand new features and accurately create test scenarios and expected results; document overall testing status for releases, and communicate results and recommendations to team. • Maintain and update automated SoapUI regression tests suites for existing web services. • Write SQL queries in SQL Server databases to validate data entered by service methods and to setup data for testing scenarios. • Works with other IT and technology teams to refine technical specifications for test analysis and quality assurance; • Effectively communicate with developers and other QA analysts; • Actively participate in team processes and use of methodologies, including customized flavors of Agile; • Log defects in defect tracking system and follow entered defects through lifecycle of creation to resolution • Follow all established Redbox QA policies and procedures. *Job Requirements:* Required Skills: • Experience using SoapUI tool for performing web service calls, creating SoapUI projects, adding assertions to validate responses; querying databases using this tool. • Solid understanding of software development life cycle, where QA and testing fits in with that life cycle; knowledge of different types of testing functional, regression, integration, smoke etc. Solid understanding of defect management and experience following a defect through from creation to closure. • Strong SQL skills with MS SQL Server; Must be able to perform basic to complex select statements with joins of multiple database tables and perform update and insert to databases to create test data • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Needs to be proactive and assertive in getting the information needed to perform QA duties if requirements are not completed defined. • Ability and aptitude to learn quickly and work within a team environment • Ability to keep up with a quickly changing environment of tasks and priorities. Preferred Skills • Experience using SoapUI to create a fully automated data driven suite of test cases using Groovy script and assertions. Education/Experience: Minimum Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related area; • 5+ years experience in software quality assurance, preferably in an Agile-like environment, with strong experience writing manual test cases • 2-3 years of recent experience in testing web services, preferably with a large scale transactional system that had multiple web services and each service had multiple methods • 2-3 years of recent experience with test automation.
