SOA/Web Services Architect Connecticut (6m to 1year) This position provides Web Services technology leadership and direction for IPC upcoming major development projects. The position requires technology evaluation, new product definition, leadership in systems design, execution of feasibility projects, and hands on development. This position assures that products are created in the most efficient manner using best practices in the industry. This individual will develop, design and implement server and client-based technologies and is expected to possess good insight into design patterns and designing applications using OOPS and Service Oriented Architectures. This person will be responsible to drive design documents, functional and technical specifications from other developers on the team. The position requires the selected person to possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The position interfaces with IPC's customers, Sales Support, Product Management, and all Engineering development teams. Required Experience * 8 years software development experience in a structured engineering environment. * Strong design knowledge of proper software architecture. * Strong experience in the design and implementation of SoA management interfaces. * Experience in the design and implementation of SoA application interfaces. * C, C++ & Java, Flex programming, database design, and object-oriented design. * Windows, Solaris and Linux platform experience. * Strong knowledge of relational database management systems. * Experience working on multi-million product development efforts Experience * Recent experience in VoIP telephony. * Experience in IP and networking protocols and architectures. * Experience in security, including security of networks, servers, and VoIP systems. Responsibilities * Design and develop the IPC's SoA on its next generation product lines. * Help to develop and effectively communicate the company's present and future technology vision and direction to varying levels if an organization both internally and externally. * Management of limited resources as necessary for projects. * Work with business partners (Microsoft, SUN, etc.) to define integrations between our systems. * Technology Research * Provide architecture ideas that may improve the present product or may streamline future developments on the present product. * Research and recommend technologies for the development of the company's products with a strong emphasis on SoA and SIP based solutions. Attention must always be given to new and growing technologies that will allow IPC to continue to be the technology leader in the financial market industry. * Research and evaluate product technologies of related or competitor companies. * Work with the engineering architecture teams in proof of concept projects to prove out new technologies and how they may apply to the product. * Participate in the IPC Patent process as necessary. Required Skills * Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization including Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing. * Ability to learn and apply new technologies. * Ability to work with and influence managers and technical groups to institute technology roadmap. * Individual must be extremely energetic and influence with a high level of conviction. * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. * Outstanding problem solving skills. * Ability to support and track multiple simultaneous projects. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Experience with full life cycle systems development methodologies. * Direct experience with managing staff. Ability to analyze and balance facts, priorities, resources, constraints and alternatives to make sound decisions and recommendations.
