Using knowledge of systems engineering or computer programming, troubleshoot existing systems and streamline their operation. Maintain, patch, and program operating systems to allow applications running on them to function efficiently. May document standard operation of a system or technical measures taken or recommended to improve a system’s functionalities. *KEY JOB FUNCTIONS* Providing production administration and support for Clients BEA WebLogic, JBOSS and Apache Webserver environment. Monitor operations of a network or an environment of servers on which a cluster of specific applications operate. Troubleshoot more difficult or complex production slowdowns or bottlenecks and determine if OS environment or network is causing problem. Document standard operation of systems in assigned network or environment; document measures taken to patch or upgrade OS and testing done to ensure continued smooth production. Maintain or perform system upgrades, including installing up to date patches and service packs. Serve on larger projects involving team resources as a key technical resources Support system users, responding with limits of the 24/7 systems service level agreement. This includes device, configuration, and monitoring requests from users. Engineer will be responsible for implementing changes, solving problems that arise and planning and implementing engineering projects assigned by management. *EDUCATION* - A BS degree or equivalent experience *MINIMUM EXPERIENCE* - 4-7 years of J2EE administration experience as an application administrator, or equivalent experience *SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS* * * - Hands-on knowledge of BEA WebLogic or JBOSS Application Servers and Apache Web Servers. Installation, configuration, and support of BEA WebLogic Server, JBOSS Server, and Apache web servers on Sun Solaris and LINUX Platforms. - Hands-on experience with JNDI, JDBC, JMS, EJB, MDB, JSP and Servlets. - Strong software integration skills specifically related to the integration of J2EE technology on a Unix Platform. - Technical experience with Unix Korn shell scripting, Perl scripting, developing diagrams with MS Visio and MS Excel. - Clearly demonstrated problem solving skills. Must be able to perform root cause analysis and determine cause of problems in order to develop specific solution to an issue. Must be able to document and communicate a problems solution to other system administrators in addition to implementing the solution. Diagnosing performance or reliability issues in multi-tier application systems, troubleshooting production issues, and deploying application components. - Research, design and document infrastructure solutions for large application development projects.
