Postgres Database Administrator in Bloomington, Illinois
3 Months
$55/hr
USC/ GC on W2/ 1099/ C2C
Postgres Database Administrator to provide support and troubleshooting
expertise to diagnose and repair of the physical infrastructure. The
person chosen will support production, development and test environments
running Linux as directed by our client in meeting their business needs.
Preferred candidates will have previous practical work experience in a
dynamic work environment and have experience supporting the infrastructure
needs of enterprise software development efforts. Ideal candidate will have
previous experience supporting Linux systems, systems administration,
configuration and/or problem resolution and triage. Perl and Shell
scripting knowledge a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Implement, integrate, and support the infrastructure with technical
applications and related vendor software/hardware
• Develop, follow, and/or implement infrastructure policies,
strategies, guidelines, standards, and procedures
• Interface with business partners to drive out requirements
• Research, evaluate, design, develop, or recommend integrated
technical solutions
• Implement and support integrated technical solutions and automated
deployment mechanisms using Puppet, Foreman, and similar tools
• Automate processes and procedures
Skill: Linux and Postgres or Oracle needed.
Additional skills: a plus to have are scripting (shel,perl), puppet, other
database product knowledge, Splunk, system administration and configuration
experience, and/or problem triage and resolution experience.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Postgres Database experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and enable/train other
analysts
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment on
moderate to highly complex issues
• High technical aptitude and demonstrated progression of technical
skills - continuous improvement
• Ability to automate software/application installations and
configurations hosted on Linux servers
• Scripting (ex. bash shell scripting, Ruby, Perl, Python)
• Experience with automation and configuration tools (Puppet,
CFEngine)
• Network and system administration experience, preferably in
large-scale data center environments
• Experience with Cloud based computing infrastructure and tools
