Please send the resumes at su...@cncconsulting.com Job Title: Business Objects Specialist Location: Columbia, SC Duration: 12 Months The South Carolina Division of Technology is requesting the services of a senior consultant to assist in the design and development of Business Objects dashboards and reports in an SAP environment. The consultant will provide technical analysis and expertise to optimize universes and data structures; coordinate the development of functional specifications; design and develop requested reports and dashboards in a quality manner; create detail documentation that facilitates the use and future modification of these reports and dashboards; and provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users in the use of Business Objects tools and techniques. The consultant will be employed by the SC Division of Technology, but will be assigned to the South Carolina Office of the State Treasurer (STO) to support the development of operational and management reports and dashboards as part of a project to replace or interface STO's Debt Management and Investment Managements Systems with SAP. South Carolina State government has implemented the following modules of SAP across all state agencies: FI, FM, HR, Payroll, SRM, CRM, Treasury Management and PBF. The consultant will design, develop, edit and maintain queries using Business Object tools and techniques to support reporting requirements and data integration tasks across a broad spectrum of applications and uses within STO. The consultant will also coordinate activities with the SC Division of Technology and SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) to ensure decisions, recommendations and work products are in compliance with best practices and established standards. Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as, an understanding of the IT organization's systems and capabilities. Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation. Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise's competitive edge. May make recommendations for buy versus build decision.* Interact with State Treasurer's Office (STO business users to gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate them into proposed business intelligence applications and reporting solutions. Coordinate with STO business users and IT personnel to design, develop and maintain complex business intelligence reporting and analytical solutions using various Business Object tools and techniques. Create and present proto-types to business users as options, as well as purpose alternative solutions to legacy reports using different technologies and development techniques. Create requirements document for approval by system owners and business users to be used in the development of reports and dashboards. Model, design, develop, test and implement approved solutions in accordance with business reporting requirements. Work closely with DBA's, BASIS team and project managers at SCEIS and STO to conduct testing, transmit changes through the appropriate release management processes to production to ensure minimal issues and optimal performance. Provide daily support of the existing Business Objects reports and universes with a focus on performing root cause analysis and finding ways to increase efficiencies, improve user satisfaction and reduce cost/time to maintain. Perform optimization reviews to consistently improve the universes, data structures, and to improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value. Create detailed documentation, including data dictionaries, during the creation or modification of universes, reports and dashboards. Provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users to ensure business intelligence applications and reporting solutions can be created, modified and maintained by STO at the end of this engagement. Assist business users in downloading and using data from Business Warehouse and Business Objects data to Crystal Reports, Dashboards, Excel, etc. for analysis and dissemination to internal and external users. Advises STO on data warehousing strategy and researches new data warehouse applications to determine viability and adoption by STO. Help STO management publish and implement best practices, standards and guidelines.
