Job Title: Data Modeler
Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 6 months
Direct Client Requirement
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for designing and developing
highly-complex, reliable, and scalable databases to meet the organization's
objectives and requirements for BI and Analytics needs. Candidate must be
an effective communicator and will be expected to provide detailed design
and specification documentation, including but not limited to flowcharts,
relationship models, and data dictionaries for all aspects of databases BI
projects. Will provide senior-level technical expertise including
overseeing the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the
Enterprise Data Architecture to ensure alignment of total Enterprise
Architecture following an Agile Methodology. Will drive business
requirements and associated review sessions into effective data integration
utilizing data expertise and business knowledge. Will work with business
units and data owners to implement and maintain an enterprise level
business analytics and data warehousing solution. Candidate will design
data handling and cleansing, and standardization procedures and business
transformation rules and logic. Will be involved in the gathering of data
requirements through facilitated sessions and designing data models based
on those requirements.
• --Responsible to work with business users to develop requirements for
reports;
• -- Analyze user needs, as required, and leads in the design of
specifications to meet those needs;
• -- Responsibility for developing SQL Server Reporting Services reports
and components;
• -- Tests and debugs software; assists in testing projects for other
developer\analysts;
• -- Accountable for the successful delivery of reports within time
estimates;
• -- Develops and documents design;
• -- Identifies risks and communicates risks to the project manager and
project team;
• -- Minimizes rework by utilization of best software engineering practice;
• -- Supports and adheres to change management process
REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
• Expert in BI data model and dimensional model best practices.
• Understand modeling concepts such as normalization and de-normalization
• Experience designing Junk Dimensions and Factless Fact tables
• Experience modeling snow flake, star and constellation schemas
• Experience designing datamarts
• Expertise utilizing Microsoft ETL/data integration tools (SSIS and T-SQL
scripts) a must.
• Knowledgeable/experienced with SharePoint 2010 & SharePoint Designer
• Knowledgeable/ experienced with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS.
SSAS, SSIS).
• Extensive knowledgeable/ experienced in all aspects of Business Objects
desired.
• Extensive knowledgeable/ experienced in all aspects of Microsoft BI Stack
a must.
• Skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Traditional or Agile (Scrum) SDLC knowledge.
• Experience with one or more BI dashboard tools.
• Experience in deploying BI over the Internet
Data modeling for OLAP and OLTP - 2 Years
Data modeling using visio or other modeling software - 1 Year
