Role Description *SQL Database Administrator / Infrastructure Analysis* Duration 1 Month Primary Work Location Houston *Role Skills/Specifics * *Skills Desired* - In depth knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008 architecture and database management - Experience configuring, maintaining and installing SQL Server databases - Relational database infrastructure planning, including sizing the database infrastructure - Performance optimization and monitoring - Knowledgeable on database best practices - Experience with developing and implementing backup and recovery plans - Experience with SQL Server Clustering *Project Description* The client wants to perform an assessment of their SQL Server Environment and Disaster Recovery Plan. Questions to be addressed include: - Is our backup strategy (maintenance plans) conventional and/or utilizing industry best practices? - Where / how should we improve our disaster recovery plans? - Should we consider clustering, mirroring, log shipping, and or replication? - Should we consolidate some of our SQL Server Instances onto fewer servers? - What kind of strategy should we implement to identify and manage pressure situations with memory, processor, and or I/O?
