Complete Description: Years of Relevant Experience: 4 plus years Preferred Education: 4 year college degree or equivalent technical study Environment: Over 1000 State Client Firewalls CISCO IOS 1841 through 3500 series routers CISCO ASA 5500 ( OS : 7.2 – 8.3) Zoned based Firewalls Classic IOS Firewalls Roles: Respond to Firewall change requests. Interface with Clients on a daily basis. Evaluate and prioritize incoming Firewall change requests. Make recommendations to Firewall structure and methodology. Troubleshoot routing protocols. Evaluate CISCO product flow. Evaluate and solve trouble logs. Required Experience: Expert Security/Firewall management background in working for large enterprise. In-depth knowledge and proven expert proficiency in helping configure, and maintain large CISCO enterprise firewalls. Administration, troubleshooting and engineering background is required. Must have experience analyzing and implementing complex firewall rules on CISCO firewalls and/or security devices. Demonstrated ability to analyze network traffic flows to reverse-engineer the required firewall ports and rules to allow secure access of applications. Strong technical ability to troubleshoot firewall problems in a large enterprise involving complex network application flows between multiple hosts spanning multiple firewalls/security zones and different geographic locations. Proven hands-on experience with firewalls and a comprehensive knowledge of IP networking and network security including Intrusion Detection, DMZ, encryption, IPSec, PKI, VPNs, MPLS/VPN, Site to Site VPN tunnels, SSL/VPN, proxy services, and DNS. good understanding of IP subnetting and routing such OSPF, BGP and EIGRP. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of how to troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues that involve firewalls, network, and applications. Ability to work in a team environment Responsible for upgrading the operating and system software and keeping patches current. Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts. Execute the disaster recovery/back up procedures and archiving procedures. Coordinating efforts with appropriate Level 3 is required. Responsible for ensuring high priority issues are resolved in a timely manner. Responsible for keeping the environment up and running. In many cases is responsible for identifying and reporting hardware problems. Capable of writing purchase justifications. Understands complicated routing concepts. Identify and track issues, risks, and action items. Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner. Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts. Understands principles of routing client/server programming. Manage expectations at all levels: customers/end users, executive sponsors. Ensure quality standards are followed. Maintain strong relationships with employees and various tier two and three support groups. Develop plans for disaster recovery/ back up and archiving. Monitor the team’s open backlog of support issues and re-assign issues as necessary to ensure they are closed per agreed upon service levels. Act as the first level of escalation for high priority support issues. Function as the liaison to the various support groups with whom the systems management team interfaces. Recommends policies on Firewall use and services.
