Specifically what are they using them for? C# and ASP.NET are not required. Most of the work will be in VB6 but if the developer has C# & asp.net, they may be asked to work on some of our .net applications. It would still be maintenance or small enhancement work though. How much is brand new development vs. maintenance? Primarily maintenance. Any new development would be small enhancements to existing applications. Sole developer or on a team? Team. Though this developer will be working on individual assignments within the team. They will be provided a mentor. Can they have Vb.Net if they don’t’ have VB skills? No. Must have VB6. Top 3 technical skills you're looking for? Visual Basic 6 & SQL are a requirement. C# & asp.net are a bonus Top 3 soft skills/personality traits you are looking for? Good verbal communication skills, self motivated, team player Top 3 daily responsibilities be for this position?* *Working on application bugs & small project requests for Alaska Airlines Visual Basic legacy application. Participate in the analysis, design, and development of new systems or maintenance of existing systems. Responsible for the resolution of complex technical issues related to development of new systems or maintenance of existing systems. Serve as a direct liaison with management and customer personnel. Assume responsibility for project supervision and/or provide technical leadership related to programming, software and application development techniques. Document project scope, objectives, requirements, and benefits. Develop a project plan documenting the product to be delivered, assumptions, project approach, project team members and responsibilities, task schedule and budget for the project. Review the analysis and project plan with, and having approved by the application lead, and management. Execute all phases of system analysis and design. Preparing all necessary charts, tables, diagrams and codes. Direct and coordinate programming, testing and implementation activities. Keep the project within the budget. Monitor progress during the project. Resolve any problems or issues affecting planned activities. Take corrective action on exceptions as they occur, insuring that tasks get done within the schedule. Prepare regular reports and analysis of project status. Prepare final (post-implementation) reports and analysis. Complete any defined follow-up activities. Other duties as assigned.
