Solution Architect Chicago, IL 6+ Months contract Phone and F2F Tasks to be Performed Model the enterprise-wide business and technology capabilities using enterprise architecture modeling techniques and tools. • Collaborate with other stakeholders in the IT division to evaluate business goals, identify business problems, and propose solutions. • Decompose business strategies and initiatives into actionable multi-year roadmaps. • Develop and maintain the centralized Enterprise Architecture repository and artifacts. • Enable strategic and transitional planning of applications, technology, information and business functions across the enterprise. • Consult with internal and external resources during the selection and implementation of business systems. • Highly technical in Distributed, in-memory caching and service oriented technologies � Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with other IT technical teams � Accountable for over all solution design � Provide cost estimates � Accountable for ensuring technology solutions comply with architectural standards � Responsible for communication of progress to senior IT and Business leadership � Responsible for organizing and maintaining performance of any application issues in accordance with agreed SLA • Facilitate open communication and fact-based decision making. • Research, identify, and recommend industry best practices for solving business and technology problems. • Clarify, define, coordinate and direct the work of others. • Provide guidance to other architects and development team • Should be able to quickly build prototypes and do POCs to prove the solution/technology. Should be hands on to lay down the framework for developers to implement *Skillset Details * Educated to a minimum of Degree level in a Technology discipline and possessing 4 or more years experience in development or implementation of large scale critical business projects, as well as experience of designing and modeling complex commercial real-time and high availability systems. Ability to independently problem solve and be self-directed, having attention to details, and the ability to capture, organize and analyze information. Excellent knowledge of distributed computing technologies especially in the eCommerce/Internet space. *Experience in developing or architecting solutions in these technologies is required: Required: * J2EE 1.6, Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), .NET, IIS, WebServices, Servlets, Struts , WebSphere, JSP, JSTL and Custom tags, JDBC, Java Beans, XML, XSL, XSD, JMS, JavaScript, HTML. *Preferred:* J2EE, .NET, WebSphere, Spring, Multi-threaded Architecture. Able to Work with distributed teams (on shore and off), vendor teams as well as internal IT teams. Strong Multi-Threaded/Concurrency, NIO, Networking, Security, Performance Tuning etc. expertise. Strong Linux/Unix Expertise, Experienced with different Debian and RPM based Linux distributions and Linux virtualization technologies. • Strong understanding of distributed systems. Experienced in building fault tolerant and scalable systems on Unix based platforms. • Solid knowledge on Distributed caching and Grid technologies like HSQL, Coherence, EH-Cache, NoSQL.
