*I.  Position Summary**:*



The Developer develops, maintains and support systems under the direction
of CIGA Management.  Developer enhances the configuration or extension of
“Off the Shelf” applications in accordance with business requirements. The
Developer embraces the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and
is a strong proponent of the methodology. The Developer maintains and
shares the Technical Architecture.



*II.  Position Responsibilities and Result Accountabilities**:*





   1. Partners with Business Analyst to understand Business Requirements
   and work closely with Project Management to ensure delivery of agreed scope
   of work by:
      1. Reviewing Business Requirements documents and provide feedback on
      areas that need clarification so that the Business Requirements are fully
      defined; and all exceptions are noted.
      2. Helping to breakdown the project into logical phase(s) of work and
      note the dependencies
      3. Prioritizing scope of work within the project timeline.
      4. Helping to translate Business Requirements documents into stories
      (scenarios, features), for development as required.
      5. Estimating the number of points for implementing each story.
      6. Translating user stories into Features and Scenarios using the
      Gherkin syntax.



   1. Develops Technical Design documents and estimates for the work effort
   and describes how the component fits into the overall Technical
   Architecture
      1. Describes, documents and maintains the Technical Architecture of
      CIGA Systems.
      2. Determines and documents the technical aspects of a solution to be
      implemented.
      3. Ensures that technology to be implemented fits into the overall IT
      Strategy of CIGA and the skills of the personnel.



   1. Designs and Develops solutions using the appropriate technologies.
      1. Responsible for developing new programs and proofing the program
      to assure a production ready and quality product.

b.    Demonstrated experienced with Oracle’s WebCenter/WebLogic, SOA,
Application Development Framework and a Java IDE or Developer’s Editor

    1. Proficient in Java, JavaScript, CSS, Windows and Bash scripting,
      Guidewire’s Gosu,
      2. Responsible for Design of User Interface
      3. Performs Technical Design – Data Types, Format, Create Structure
      (Case, Component, Object) and Behavior (Activity, Use Cases) Diagrams
      4. Adapts popular Open Source solutions as appropriate
      5. Documents code consistently throughout the development process by
      listing a description of the program, special instructions, and
any changes
      made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level.



   1. Builds systems using a Continuous Integration platform, and use of
   SCCM (Source Code Control and Configuration Management like SVN or Git) and
   Business Process testing
      1. Configure and use build tools like Maven or Ant
      2. Use of Integration of environment like Hudson, Jenkins
      3. Review code from other developers to ensure that they conform to
      programming standards and documentation level



   1. Manages performance of production systems and assist in performance
   tuning in all stages of SDLC, including implementation of Application
   Clustering and Load Balancing
      1. Responsible for utilizing tools like Riverbed involved in
      measuring the performance of the system and to recommend and make changes
      as necessary
      2. Design and use tools like clustering, load balancers to improve
      systems performance and availability
      3. Responsible for communicating with managed hosting provider and
      vendors regarding programming needs and system performance



*III. Position Knowledge and Personal Skills: *

   1. Strong analytical skills with a desire to become knowledgeable in the
   insurance industry.
   2. Practitioner of Object Orient Design
   3. Knowledgeable in the use of application containers like Tomcat,
   Websphere, Oracle WebCenter, Oracle SOA and Oracle/BEA Weblogic for
   clustering for high availability and load balancing
   4. Previous experience with Enterprise Application implementation is
   preferred and Guidewire experience is a plus.
   5. Knowledge and practitioner of SDLC, Release Management and Change
   Management
   6. Familiar with the use of Messaging Architecture.
   7. Experienced with Java, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS3, Bash and Windows
   Scripting, XML, Webservices, Ant, Maven, JMS, JNDI, SMTP, SQL Programming,
   Portal
   8. Experienced with Continuous Integration platform like Hudson or
   Jenkins.
   9. Experienced with Unix or Linux commands, shell scripting and basic
   networking knowledge.
   10. Great communication skills and collegial.
