Client: American Airlines Location: Phoenix, AZ Duration: 8-month contract *JOB DESCRIPTION:* *Senior Infrastructure Engineer* – Solaris and Storage Foundation PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *UNIX Systems Engineer* will be responsible for designing and documenting high availability, scalable UNIX systems that run Solaris and Symantec Storage Foundation (VCS). - Responsible for designing and documenting Solaris systems environment in coordination with other infrastructure and business teams - Leads engineering design meetings for new systems and technologies - Will work with other infrastructure engineers to design requirements and ensure the system is secure, highly available and scalable - Will work with business analysts to capture requirements for UNIX based enterprise projects - Will be an escalation point for operations and engineers to provide resolution for escalated incidents - Works with both managed data centers and self-managed data centers to deploy new technology for use by the enterprise. - Works on medium to large enterprise infrastructure projects that impact and deliver value to the enterprise. - Works hand in hand with project managers, engineers, administrators, and customers to deliver projects on time and in budget. - Develops documentation for requirements, architectural designs, engineering drawings and diagrams, as well as operational policies and procedures. - Actively manages project risks and issues to close technical gaps in the project. - Encourages an environment of sharing and team work among the project teams. - Develops and documents best practices for system installation, deployment, and operation. - Manages technology proof of concept selection criteria, evaluation, and testing. - Explores and stays abreast of new technologies that can bring value to the organization. - Work with the Systems Operations team to design solutions for migrating off older hardware into a virtualized platform using zones and LDoms. QUALIFICATIONS: - Undergraduate degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS/Engineering/Technology a related field or equivalent experience and or training - 7+ years of Solaris operating system experience o including design and management of Solaris Zones o LDoms o Oracle T3/T4/T5 and M3000/4000/5000 systems o SAN Multipathing software o 2+ years experience with Solaris 11 as well as experience with older versions of Solaris - 5+ years experience creating and managing clustered systems using VERITAS Clustering (Symantec Storage Foundation) - 2+ years experience designing and deploying High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions - 5+ years experience configuring systems using network-based storage solutions (SAN and NAS) - Advanced knowledge of IP networking technologies with specific knowledge of network addressing, DNS, routing, firewall technologies - Demonstrates good judgment and experience in technology selection and implementation. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Provide excellent customer service, leadership, communication, problem solving and decision making skills. - Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, then design, document and implement all facets of the supporting infrastructure - Demonstrate strong prioritization, time management and organizational skills. - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens, understands, and gets clarification. Seeks other input at all phases of the project. Able to read and interpret written information.
