The Technical Writer will report directly to the Project Director and
Project Manager, and support the

needs of the Core Project Team, including the Project Technology Manager,
and QA Manager. This

position will require the Technical Writer to develop, manage and control
the standards for

documentation needed for the ERP Upgrade project. In addition to knowledge
of HTML, XML and PDF

development, the Technical Writer must also be well‐versed in SharePoint,
and online help tools, such

as RoboHelp, Irise and other systems. This position also must:

• Have 7+ years of technical writing experience, preferably within a
high‐tech industry or IT

environment

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher

• Be accustomed to working in a fast‐paced, and deadline driven environment

• Have knowledge of best practices for user interface design

• Possess the ability to learn software interfaces, and development logic,
efficiently and quickly

• Be a team player within both technical and functional groups

• Be a proven problem‐solver with the ability to troubleshoot technical and
functional issues

• Be self‐driven, and capable of efficiently managing and prioritizing
competing deadlines and

responsibilities

This role must satisfactorily meet the following job responsibilities:

• Write, develop and maintain documentation in accordance to the
requirements defined by the Core

Project Team, and SMEs.

• Work with the Core Project Team to develop and implement documentation
standards that align

with ERP Upgrade needs.

• Study, and perform independent analysis, of vendor‐provided documentation.

• Develop ERP documentation and online templates for all specifications,
user guides, training

curricula, and tutorials.

• Participate in business analysis, and technical discussions, with the
upgrade Subject Matter Experts,

Business Analysts, Project Coordinators and CGI Consultants.

• Synthesize complex technical and functional information into accurate and
concise documentation.

• Conduct focus groups among functional end users, super users and
administrators within the County

to determine each group’s level of need.

• Align documentation content and materials to the target audience’s level
of need.

• Organize and maintain the file structures and naming conventions for all
technical, functional and

user documentation.

• Assist in ad hoc product testing and user interface run‐throughs.

• Document and log software performance issues, as specified in the QA Test
Plan.

• Deliver consistent, and standardized, documents to the project teams, and
to departments

throughout the County.

• Assist in transition the maintenance and management of documents to the
BAs.

• Assist the Core Project Team in the development of County reports, case
studies, or other narratives

that support the ERP Upgrade Project.

• Meet all documentation requirements and deadlines as defined by the Core
Project Management

Team.

• Perform other documentation, or support duties, as may be required.
