| Duties & Responsibilites : | -The Quality Assurance/Tester (QAT) is responsible for the design, pilot, and implementation of the software quality assurance review processes.
-Will be testing ETL-SSIS packages against a back end SQL Server Database
-Will be coordinating efforts with the DBA team - assisting the DBA's with testing
Responsibilities:
- Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
- Backend database testing in Microsoft SQL environment, duties including:
- Designing and manipulating test data to fit test cases
- Validating SSIS packages, stored procedures, jobs and triggers.
- Perform ETL testing.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
- Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts.
- Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
- Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members.
- Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
- Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
- Test Case creation from Business Requirements - identify all possible scenarios
- Create data when needed to fit particular testing situations (may be loaded using Excel or SQL statements, Visual Studio). Data may be supplied by Business Liasion or already available as well.
- Data Validation after a process has ran - possibly executing scripts or scheduled task to generate the action
- File loading to a table - has the table been updated as defined from the raw data in file
- Pulling data from a file to pass elsewhere - is the file format (XML, delimited, etc) correct as described), did the target receive the file correctly
- Defect logging will facilitate workflow and track progress
-The candidate doesn't need to know SSIS syntax necessarily, but typical data tools/methods would be used to accomplish the testing.
-Our immediate need is for SSIS package testing, but future projects could include other ETL tools but would require the same or similar testing methods as described above.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-Expert in SQL Queries - ability to write SQL to query data across multiple versions of SQL Server Required 4 Years
-Read and interpret SSIS packages Required 4 Years
-Experience in testing ETL processes Required 4 Years
-Experience in testing of data warehouse environments with large amounts of data Required
-Experience writing test documentation such as test plans, scripts and test results reports Required
-Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing Required
-Experience with manual testing Required
-Issue Management - seeing them through bug fix and re-testing Required
