Job Description:

One of my clients in Boston is looking for a WebSphere Administrator for a
3+ month project.  This candidate will be responsible for WebSphere
products installed. These products at this time include WebSphere
Application but could include Server WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere MQ
Series, WebSphere Commerce Server, WebSphere Portal Server.
Responsibilities include WebSphere software installations and upgrades as
well as overall administration and management (problem, change, etc.). Will
serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the WebSphere products as well as a
technical escalation point for issues. Will identify root causes of
problems and follow up with customers and technical staff to ensure
effective problem resolution. Participates on projects and performs other
duties and or responsibilities as assigned.
Configure middleware related server and client software as needed

Responsibilities:

   - Test, implement and integrate middleware products as required
   - Script routinely executed production tasks such that execution can
   easily be delegated to other appropriate support groups
   - Script routinely requested development tasks such that they can be
   executed by application development teams whenever they are needed
   - Ensure all middleware environments are created and utilized in
   alignment with organizations governance
   - Administer and support middleware products in production, test and
   development environments
   - Create all necessary documentation to build, administer and support
   all test, development, and production middleware environments
   - Ensure that appropriate health-checks are performed in appropriate
   intervals having corresponding procedures to respond to anticipated
   conditions
   - Work with applications developers, database analysts and other support
   staff to troubleshoot and/or implement product features
   - Work with OS level administrators to help middleware product
   integration into server OS environments
   - Work with other support teams as needed to seamlessly transition any
   middleware environments targeted for production in other organization
   departments
   - Create and distribute documentation required for support staff to
   monitor and troubleshoot middleware related problems
   - Provide on-call support as needed (24 X 7)
   - Provide support for advanced functions of Middleware Systems Support,
   such as design recommendation, performance analysis, best practices on
   maintenance, log files, performance tuning and development of processes and
   procedures related to middleware activities

Skills:

   - Must have 5+ years of administration and management experience of two
   or more relevant WebSphere products
   - Specific experience is required with WebSphere Application, Commerce
   and Portal Servers. Ability to automate routine tasks (stop/start, logfile
   rotation, etc.) via shell scripting is required
   - WebSphere version Websphere Application Server (WAS) 7 ND Edition
   7.0.15 or higher, 64 bit
   - WAS Plug-in
   - Microsoft .Net Framework v3.5
   - IIS experience as appropriate for all products is required
