Employment Type: Contract City: Englewood State: CO Status: Accepting Candidates Description: Unison Systems is looking for a Dev Ops Engineer for a contract position in Denver, CO - DTC Job Summary This individual will have an “Automate everything” mindset and be part of a software development engineering team responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, and documenting software enhancements and fixes to a large application. The ideal resource will have skills and experience supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining system and application level components, and perform system administrator tasks, and will be able to writes scripts in order to improve automation. This resource will perform activities such as configure and maintain application infrastructure, analyzing application level monitoring tools such as NMS systems and configuring and troubleshooting web application containers (Tomcat). Responsibilities/Job Duties: • Help build and maintain environments (Dev, Test, Integration, Stage, Prod) • Participate in on-call rotation • Write and manage cron jobs for a large application • Read and analyze application level synthetic monitoring • Use monitoring tools like Zabbix, BAC, NSG, App Dynamics, Wiley • Develop and execute load, stress, capacity, and longevity testing of systems • Assist with improving and maintaining automated build environment, Jenkins, Maven or Ant • Troubleshooting physical hosts to analyze performance • Assisting with system level maintenance & patches • Ensure that tasks are being completed in timely manner with limited direction • Participate in team meetings to discuss approaches to current projects • Responsible for maintaining documentation of policies and procedures for various tasks related to the operation of the environments • Assist engineering team members in the identification and resolution of software/platform related issue Minimum Requirements: • BS in Computer Science or equivalent • 5+ years of experience with System Administration work • 1 - 2 years of experience with MySQL, Oracle, PL/SQL and JDBC • 1 - 2 years of experience Unix and Unix shell scripting • 1 – 2 years working with Monitoring tools such as Nagios • Experience implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting the Unix/Linux operating system, Internet-based applications, and web servers. • Scripting experience in actively writing/modifying code to improve monitoring and automation (Perl, Python, Shell, etc). • Strong experience with storage, load balancing, and other technologies in a high volume, high transaction environment. • Experience with high transaction volumes, high data through put • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Willing to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution • Comfortable working in a fast paced agile environment.
