Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Linux Administrator will provide Linux Administration support and
maintenance for the Client IT infrastructure.
• Installation, Configuration & Administration of Linux Servers
• Troubleshoot Linux server issues, including any performance
related incidents.
• Take ownership of technical IT incidents and work with
vendors, application and development teams to resolve complex issues
efficiently
• Drive technical bridge calls to help troubleshoot and resolve
critical incidents more effectively
• Document standard operating procedures, policies,
environment and system configurations
• Share best practices with team members to enhance the quality
of support and contribute to knowledge base
• Ensure SLAs are met and maintained, and escalated issues are
handled accordingly
• Communicate clearly and precisely with your customers,
colleagues and management team in written and verbal format
*Essential Skills and Competencies*
• Extensive Experience in Installation, Configuration and
Administration in almost all UNIX flavors.
• Troubleshooting experience for improving Performance and
quality in production environments.
• 8 years of progressive experience diagnosing and resolving IT
problems in a complex software environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate
challenging situations in a professional manner.
• Ability to drive successful results, make decisions with
limited information, and adjust quickly in a fast-paced, rapidly changing
work environment managing multiple priorities across different business
units.
• Must exhibit creativity and innovation in system solutions;
must be broadly focused and able to manage multiple efforts concurrently.
• Strong ability to formulate and execute strategy around
creation and implementation of scalable solutions supporting multiple
locations
• Ability to be on-call and work out of hours for essential IT
work or troubleshooting
• Experience in one or more of the following additional areas
is a plus – DBA activities, backup solutions
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in technology-related discipline (e.g. BS
Computer Science)
• Familiarity with ITIL Applications Management, Change
Management and Release Management processes
• Sun Certified System Administration
Desired Qualifications
• ITIL v3 certification
