*Summary*

The senior developer is responsible for acting as the technical lead within
a project development team, managing developer activities, and providing
experienced and advanced development skills to projects.  A senior
developer may work independently on projects. A senior developer also has
responsibility for client contact regarding a project’s technical
parameters and architecture.

*Responsibilities*

Senior developer responsibilities are focused on development, team
leadership, advanced development, proposal and client support.

   - A senior developer will be assigned to proposal teams, and is
   responsible for supporting the proposal development effort including
   research, writing sections of the proposal, and assisting with defining
   budget items.  The senior developer works with the account executive,
   project manager and designer to develop the proposal.
   - When a senior developer is assigned to a project, the senior developer
   is responsible for:
      - Assisting the project manager with managing developers,
      - Serving as a technical resource for junior and mid-level
      developers,
      - Completing or managing advanced development tasks,
      - Implementing the development tasks as specified in the project
      documentation;
      - Maintaining professional industry standards and procedures,
      - Communicating technical information to clients
   - As an employee, the senior developer acts
      - as a mentor for junior and mid-level employees,
      - in a professional and responsible manner – thus, serving as a good
      example for junior-level employees,
      - as an informed counselor and resource for account executive,
      designers and clients.
   - As a senior level developer, the individual will also be responsible
   for product management and development of proprietary products.
   - A senior level developer will work in conjunction with other senior
   level developers to support infrastructure, as well as plan for
   infrastructure enhancements.
   - A senior developer will work with management to ensure that all
   software purchases are properly documented and licensed.
   - A senior developer works in conjunction with other senior developers
   to ensure code integrity and proactively resolve issues relating to
   databases and overall site implementations.

*Qualifications*

The qualifications for a lead developer reflect the large level of
responsibility placed upon a person acting in this capacity.  A candidate
for a lead developer position must:

·         Demonstrate proficiency with software development methodologies
and processes;

   - Have successfully and energetically completed at least six (6) or more
   years of advanced software systems development;
   - Exhibit mastery of at least two of the following development or
   scripting languages (ColdFusion, .NET, PHP);
   - Show familiarity with database development techniques using at least
   one enterprise-level database platform;
   - Demonstrate high levels of maturity, responsibility, and integrity;
   - Demonstrate acceptable management and leadership skills;
   - Demonstrate client management skills;
   - Actively seek the position and be willing to fulfill the
   responsibilities of the position;
   - Continue to develop his or her technical and management skill sets
   through self-initiated and/or self-motivated training; and
   - Possess well-developed English-language communications skills – both
   written and oral.



In addition to the required attributes, a candidate for a lead developer
position should be:

   - Proficient with at least one enterprise-level operating system– e.g.,
   Windows Server, Linux;
   - Proficient with at least one enterprise-level development environment–
   e.g., ColdFusion Builder, Dreamweaver,  MS Visual Studio/Visual, Zend
   Studio;
   - Familiar with several ancillary development languages – e.g.,
   JavaScript, SQL, HTML, XML; and
   - Able to train junior-level employees.
