*Job Description for the Project:*
Assist in design and building.
· Future multimedia service offerings and supporting network
infrastructure,
*e.g. content-converged wireless/wireline video delivery.*
· Approaches to next-next-generation network infrastructure OAM&P
(Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning).
· Cloud Networking.
· Network monitoring.
· Use of soft tools to monitor and analyze network health and trouble shoot
errors and failures.
· Lab physical connectivity (internal and external): design and
implementation.
· Lab logical connectivity (internal and external).
*IP network design, Layer 2 network design. *
· Basic testing procedure and procurement of network test equipment,
network elements, and related software.
· Basic proof of concept network architecture testing, including use of
software tools to organize and document test plan creation, test plan
implementation, including use of test tools to monitor and log traces; test
result documentation.
· Lab equipment management, operation, and maintenance.
· Lab maintenance of space and scheduling.
· Vendor management.
*Supervise vendor staff.*
*Coordinate vendor schedules and procedures.*
· *Required Skills for the Project:*
Solid understanding of the following:
· Routers
*Routing techniques.*
*Layer 2 Network design / implementation.*
· Servers: including, Linux, Unix ,Hardware, Software.
· Support systems VM: (VMware/Parallels), Red Hat.
· Networking.
· Peripheral equipment.
· Video / Data distribution.
· Optical Networking.
· Design, implementation and testing.
· Test sets:
*Use case development.*
*Test set up and implementation and analysis. *
*Home networking, STB, BHR, Basic Computers (MAC/PC).*
*Additional Skills include:*
· *Router / Server OS expertise.*
· *Firewall IP Sec standards.*
· *OSHA / NEBA lab powering and safety basics.*
· Major router vendor OS expertise, major firewall vender expertise, and
familiarity with telecommunications test instrumentation.
· Basic knowledge of OSHA safety, lab powering, NEBS, and local ordinances
desirable.
