*Position: **Tier 2 Linux Engineer*
*Location: **Ashburn, VA*
*Duration: 12+ Months*
*Need Only Green Card (GC) and US Citizens*
This position requires 4+ years of experience managing and maintaining both
systems and hardware in Linux Server environments. Installing, configuring,
and maintaining software and supporting a broad range of customers are also
required. There is no travel or on call required.
*Requirements:*
- Work with senior engineers to solve problems on a daily basis.
- Provide administration and maintenance of production servers
running *RedHat,
CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu Linux in a 24/7 environment*
- Familiarity with a multitude of OS tools and utilities for managing,
monitoring and troubleshooting Linux infrastructure and networks
- Backup, administer, and troubleshoot *MySQL and Oracle*.
- Knowledge of *LVM, SAN and Journaling file systems as well as Oracle
ASM.*
- Must be a self-starter and highly motivated that works well with a
team and adapts to dynamic environment changes.
- Able to research and solve problems independently.
- Professionally interface with customers and be attentive to their
needs.
- Support a variety of internal/external software solutions
including, *Cisco
CUCM, Netbackup, VMware, Oracle*
- Responsible for resolving customer helpdesk tickets and providing
insight into any architecture we support.
- •Responsible for monitoring event logs, system performance variables
and managing server projects including troubleshooting problems.
- Recommend and execute Linux server hardware and software
configuration, installation, patching, integration, upgrades and
performance tuning
- Support daily operations to Linux server such as capacity management,
performance monitoring, provisioning, and network systems connectivity
- Experience with creation and management of Virtual Machines
running on *vSphere
ESX/EXSi.*
- *Linux shell, Perl and Python scripting knowledge*
*Qualifications:*
- 4+ years of experience
- Primary Focus: Linux Server Administration (NO Desktop Support)
- Secondary Focus: Virtualization, Security, Networking, Database
- Open Source Software Configuration and Administration
- Strong Customer Service skills and excellent problem solving skills
- Solid oral and written communication skills
