*Position *: Network Engineer (VoIP/IP Telephony) * Location:* Atlanta GA * Duration :* 12+ Months DEPARTMENT: Technical Services/Network Design & Implementation *Job Description:* *PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:* The Network Engineer is responsible for developing and integrating all VoIP/IP Telephony communication. The Network Engineer will design, build and support VoIP and Video Conferencing comprised of core and edge devices. The Network Engineer provides support for all infrastructure issues related to the VoIP/IP Telephony. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* - Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related major, or Cisco CCNP certification completed and current, or 5 to 7 years of comparable work experience for non-degree or non-Cisco certified candidate will be considered. - Support telecommunications infrastructure, networks and tools including but not limited to: Cisco Voice Gateways, T1 circuits, NFAS, Windows server hardware, VoIP systems, Integrated voice mail systems, ACD systems, Call Accounting systems, Telecommunications management tools, cabling infrastructure, and video conferencing systems. - Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with department, other company personnel and vendors to obtain and disseminate information, resolve discrepancies, respond to customer concern, and maintain good working relationships in the course of assigned work, and to offer training to users on telecommunications equipment. - Installs, repairs, splices, tests, and terminates various forms of telecommunications and electrical wiring and cabling (e.g. copper, fiber, coax, etc.). - Documents job-related activity (e.g. work performed, location of equipment, time and parts used for repairs and/or modifications, weekly time sheets, travel claims, etc.) - Schedules and/or coordinates services (e.g. repairs, installations, removal of equipment, preventive maintenance, etc.) - When assigned on call support responds to 24 hour/day, 7 day/week emergency call-outs to perform and/or facilitate emergency equipment repairs anywhere in the company wide telecommunications system. - Generates hand drawings and computer generated drawings, creating site documentation (e.g. layout of equipment within a room, site access maps, special site considerations and needs, etc.) - Acquires, purchases, and distributes telecommunications parts, tools, and programming aids to facilitate the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of telecommunications and other electronic equipment, including searching for second source items, using manufacturer's manuals, supply house catalogs, and computer based on-line services, and completing requisitions, and verifying receipt of items for correctness. - Tests and evaluates new telecommunications equipment to ensure that the equipment meets the parameters of company contracts and stated manufacturer's specifications. - Report liability situations to appropriate departments to resolve problem situations - Work with manager on project and/or assignment/tasks nearing completion to receive next project and/or assignment/task - Catalogs, maintains (e.g. adds, deletes, updates, etc.) telecommunications technical service manuals and reference books. - Constructs or assembles new telecommunications equipment (e.g. experimental, prototypes, cabinets, racks, panels, etc.) to support engineering development efforts. - Project a positive company image at all times. - Work with co-workers as a team to ensure success. - And other duties as assigned. *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:* - Working with others to accomplish tasks when required. - Working independently with minimal supervision when required. - Following detailed oral and written instructions. - Oral and written communications to exchange information, explain procedures, techniques, and answer questions in a clear logical manner. - Evaluating and identifying the source of the problem within a telecommunications system with a minimum expenditure of time and resources. - Gathering technical information for trouble calls from non-technical personnel. - Installing or removing telecommunications and associated support equipment at fixed locations companywide. - Reading and comprehending technical shop manuals, manufacturer’s specifications, and troubleshooting guides used in the installation and repair of telecommunications equipment. - Providing technical training to others. - Competent in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point, etc.) *ABILITIES TO:* - Acquire additional skills to maintain technical and professional skills. - Safely move objects weighing 50 pounds. - Sitting for long periods of time - Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding - Oral communications over the phone and in person - Ability to view computer monitor -
