Description:
Free QDOS will be a modern, Free Operating System for expanded Sinclair QL machines 
and derivatives based on Minerva and QDOS Classic drivers (QDOS classic is a Free 
Software derivative of QDOS v.1.03 "JM").



Free QDOS will be written entirely in MC68K assembly and while maintaining the core of 
Minerva and QDOS Classic, these will be updated to use only Free tools such as gwass 
and gwassl. 



Minerva (the main core) is a GPL'd 68K assembly OS for the QL but has not been updated 
for quite sometime.



Free QDOS will implement a real (POSIX) filesystem for the first time in the QL world, 
as well as:



a. inbuilt TCP/IP networking based on uwIP, b. memory protection, c. virtual machines, 
d. fully independent device driver API e. Full gui based on picogui 
(<url:http://www.picogui.org>) and f. partial compatibility with the newest QL OS: 
SMSQ/e.



The current sources of Free QDOS (currently still Minerva) reside at:

The target machines for Free QDOS currently planned are: 1. Expanded QLs (Minimum 
68000 cpu), Atari ST/TT/Falcon, Amiga, Q40, Q60.







Other Software Required:
Currently depending on GST/Quanta QL Macro Assembler. 

No non-free software dependencies will exist at the time of first release, macros are 
currently being changed to ones compatible with as68 and gwass/gwassl (all free tools)
