my case, I ran into it with an Intel DQ965GFE motherboard after a bios
upgrade.

In the end I rewrote the java command to point to 1.6.0 instead of 1.4.2.
One thing that wrongfooted me is that 1.4.2 is in /usr/lib/jvm/jre1.4.2.
but 1.6.0 is in /usr/java/
I'll keep the salt standing by.
